Character Name: Kagamine Len
Canon: Vocaloid
AU/OC/Previous Game: AU – Past Lives
Age: 5

Appearance: He was build to look like a 156cm fourteen year old boy. For all intents and purposes, he does look it with all the physical features, but lacking any and all signs of scarring or calluses. He has shoulder length blonde hair, usually pulled up in a ponytail. He has blue eyes. On his right upper arm, he has a red, tattoo like marking of ‘02’ with Kagamine Len in smaller font underlining it. His nails also appear to have yellow nail polish on them. If one were to look for it, they can notice that there was slight lines along his body that mark where the panels of his outer shell/skin can disconnect from his body.

Cause of Death: Elevator accident. He had been riding down the Crypton elevator for a costume change when it malfunctioned and fell. He was crushed when the elevator crumpled like a tin can, damaging the unit holding the Kokoro program.

Impact of Death: He will be devastated. Once he accepts it happened. While he’s not a combat robot, as long as the Kokoro program unit is undamaged, anything can be fixed. (While the unit itself can be fixed, it would restart the program, thus creating a new life, not reviving the old one.) So not only is hard for him to believe, being revived and still being an android will be even harder to believe. The only means to ‘die’ cannot be ‘revived,’ so it’s just very confusing. Not that the death itself is terrible, as he is used to that even if he doesn’t remember, the fact it means he will be separated from his friends and family will hit and it will hit hard. Especially for him to have lost Rin. He won’t handle it well and will become desperate to get back home and will be rather emotionally unstable until he gets some reason to get his act together. But first he has to get over his denial of what happened.

Character Info:
Once upon a time there was a land ruled by a young princess who had a servant who looked like her. Perhaps due to demons, maybe witchcraft, or simply human greed, the princess was a cruel ruler. There were wars and many suffered because of one girl’s wishes. However, even as the world turned against her, the boy with her face remained loyal and ultimately, he would be the one to lose his head, leaving that once evil girl with regret. And a wish that she made until the day she died.

Since then, the twins have been reborn over and over again throughout many lives. However, tragedy will always follow them and often drag in those who they used to love in that evil life. This happened for countless centuries.

Then the world nearly ended. With humanity losing itself in robotic bodies that couldn’t feel and the only humans left were those unfortunate twins. But there was hope. A machine that could change time itself and they found it, with killer androids right behind them. It was then they remembered the truth of their history, of their rebirth. And that evil princess saw what her brother had done and chose to be the one to protect him. She pushed him into the machine and used her body to buy him time.

He went. The wars that would lead the world to ruin were averted. And a miracle was born, where a scientist was able to make a machine truly feel.

In the new future, Crypton is a music company who gave a man a chance to produce a wonderful program. Kokoro, which would give machines a heart. The Vocaloids were made, very life like androids who could almost be mistaken for human, with real hearts. And real souls. The fourth and fifth Vocaloids were a set of twins.

When Len opened his eyes for the first time and saw Rin, and the others, he had cried. He didn’t know why, but he knew he was happy.

There’s not much to be said of his life. He had fame and fortune, he did performances. Music, dancing, acting, the Vocaloids did it all and became super popular. There were wacky hijinks and most days were full of fun and joy. Only the occasional hiccup from someone wanting to steal the technology or seeing such machines as monsters.

Then Len and Rin found an old bottle and locket on a beach a few weeks ago. Inside the bottle was a message, that said ‘if only we could be reborn, I’d want to play with you again.’ It had shaken the twins, though they couldn’t explain why, and on their way back, Len slipped and hit the rocks, blacking out. The damage was fixed and as far as Crypton could find, there were no problems. But Len started to have episodes.

Suddenly he’d be singing a song, but instead of keeping the persona to the song, he’d start to act like he was REALLY THEM. And as far as he could see, he was. It would be hours until he’d snap out of it. He’s been getting constant check ups since, but hasn’t been able to figure out the problem. He’s become terrified there might be something wrong with his Kokoro itself, the one program too complex to check. But the Kokoro program can’t be altered. It would mean his death to do so. So he pretends nothing is wrong, still clinging to that old locket and hoping.

Then he got into the elevator.

Len has a huge sister complex. If pressed, he will literally choose his twin sister Rin over the world. He would die for her, he would kill for her. There’s pretty much nothing out of the realm of possibility of what he’d be willing to do for her. Not that he’s submissive because sometimes doing what he has to for Rin involves doing things for her own good and he will argue with her, but if she really wants something, he’ll do it. He never quite feels complete without her around.

Of course he can FUNCTION without her. There will just be a nagging sensation of sad at the back of his mind most of the time.

However, because of this tendency, it’s also made Len into a rather mature, protective, and motherly young man. By this point, Len is just naturally inclined to take care of others. He cooks, he cleans, he nags people to do their important things. He will be a listening ear and try to help someone with their personal problems. He will mother hen if people give him a reason to be concern and he’s one of the first called to pick up one of his drunk Vocaloid siblings from the bar. He’s one of the more responsible members of the group of eccentrics.

He will also do anything and everything he can to protect people he cares about, or even people in general. Len doesn’t particularly like excessive violence (though a little is okay), he isn’t afraid to use it to protect others. He can make bad decisions that way, though, since he’s really not a fighter. He hasn’t got a hero complex, he doesn’t feel guilt for not being able to help someone, unless it’s Rin. He may have survivor’s guilt depending on the situation, but he can be satisfied that he at least tried to help.

That is not to say Len is always mature. After all, he’s built to be a fourteen year old boy and his sister is Rin. Len can definitely be a brat or a bit arrogant if he wants to be. He will sass people and be a rude little jerk if someone gets on his nerves. He can have trouble realizing he’s crossed lines until blows are thrown. And more than once he’s gone on rants about some of the people who write certain (perverted) songs. Mostly those that have anything to do with the word shota. Len also loves a good prank. While not as proactive as Rin on his own, unless it’s a revenge prank, he certainly enjoys coming up with them and watching them go off when he does decide to do it. He’s prideful and has a hard time apologizing. Unless someone cried in front of him, though he may be thinking tears are cheating.

Vocaloids, in general, are a rather eccentric and mostly energetic bunch. Len certainly has times where he’s like this. Like the time he and Rin stole a road roller from a construction site. (The company paid for it later.) But it would be more accurate to say Len has bursts of this. Len likes having time to relax. To read and enjoy the silence a while. He loves the stage and attention, he definitely loves to sing and dance, but he loves having time to himself as well.

There is also him as a performer. He’s a very good actor and if he knows he’s meant to act, he can pull off any persona, any outfit, any performance without a single hint of shame. Internally, he will probably be embarrassed by a lot of the more risqué things he’s asked to do. He’s naturally a bit on the shy side, so he relies a lot of facades for when he’s doing anything too embarrassing. As such, while he’d before a more traditional romantic courting, he can still sing a song about how he’s a man whore and make it work.

Len also doesn’t open up easily. He can seem very open at first, but he will refuse to make himself vulnerable to just anyone. Not to the point of some deep rooted fear, but it’s not easy. He is someone who wants to protect, he doesn’t want to be protected, and he hates to appear weak.

Despite this and his natural shyness, Len does like people. He’s not afraid to talk to them, just he might get flustered or embarrassed more easily than expected of an idol. And he is rather confident in himself, never being afraid to stand up for himself. He does know he can pull the stuff off, it’s just embarrassing to do so. If given half the chance, he will more often choose something more modest than risqué over the top.

But it should also be said that, at least this time around, Len’s life has been rather easy. Sure, there was the occasional kidnapping/theft attempt because he’s a famous idol and a valuable piece of technology. And there’s certainly those who protest that Vocaloids are sins against god. But overall, his life has been peaceful. So having a bunch of life threatening stress is not something he’s used too and his bouts into past lives is recent. For things like this, he mostly freaks out a lot internally and he could even freeze up completely. This is less so if there’s some reason to protect someone else, but on his own, it probably would not go well.

Abilities (after Powercap):
None really. While it is true that Len is an android, he is a singing, dancing one. He is not made to be more than that. His strength is normal for someone of his size, there are no secret weapons, and while being made of metal affords him a bit more durability, he is made to be light enough to be a good dancer, only weighing a bit more than a boy his size. The metal may let him fall down from stage scaffolding with little damage, but not for things trying to throw him through stone walls. Even his speed and agility are all within human norms, though agility is definitely pushing it a bit. He does have the advantage of ‘he is a robot, he doesn’t get fatigued so long as he has energy,’ but again, he just doesn’t have the abilities to really be an affective fighter. It’s more a boon to help him not die. His body can’t grow on its own and he will be extremely reluctant to allow anyone to modify it.

Basically, if Len encountered any of the not pet sized type animals, it would be more than reasonable for it to tear him into little bits if it wanted to and his only hope would be avoid and run like hell.

Though he might TECHNICALLY still be alive even if torn to bits, if the unit still holding the Kokoro program is undamaged. If it is damaged though, it can’t be repaired to bring him back. All that will do is make a new Kokoro for another soul to be born, he’d need to be properly revived with a god to come back.

Samples:
Introduce yourself in a few sentences.
*With musical beat.*
The name is Kagamine Len.
Vocaloid, generation two brand.
Now don’t let my young face fool you.
It ain’t that shota character type.
I’m a real man not to be messed with.
And without a doubt it’s this one
Whose gonna rock this town.

Describe yourself physically.
My height is 156 centimeters. My eye color is #6df9dd. My hair is #fee680, approximately 3.4 centimeters below my shoulders in length. Usually tied back. My skin color is #fdfedf. Approximately 72.575 kilograms. Fingernails are permanently painted with #ffff00 nail polish. A zero two marking with ‘Kagamine Len’ subheading in #c80202 dye on my right shoulder. Outfits vary.

What was your childhood like?
The same as my life now except I was less famous? Do I even have a childhood yet, I’m five. Either way, my whole life has been about performing, with all its ups and downs. The ups make it worth it though. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of cheers from an entire concert hall or stadium.

Who is most important to you, and why?
Rin. As for why…she’s my number one princess in the world. My precious twin. Do I really need another reason?

What's your biggest pet peeve?
People calling me shota. I am not shota! Just because those writers are perverts doesn’t make it real, it’s all an act! An act!

Do you consider yourself an optimist or a pessimist? Why?
I’ve never really thought of myself as either.. It’s not like I always assume the best of things. When Rin and I do the really over the top pranks, I do assume we’ll get caught and punished even if she doesn’t. But it’s not like I assume the worst all the time. I have a really good life, so there’s no reason to be pessimistic. So I guess mostly optimistic with a good dose of realism?

Where, or how, did you learn your most important skills?
They were built into me before I was brought online.

Do you think world peace is possible?
Of course it is.

I know, there is a lot of terrible things that happen in this world. We have plenty of songs that talk about it. But that’s the thing. We sing those songs and we sing songs of hope and when you sing enough, it’s easy to see. There’s a certain light in the eyes of the people when a song has truly touched their heart. If it brings them tears, if it brings them hope, and if just a melody of the heart can touch humans in such a way…

How can peace be impossible?

Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
I’d say about half and half. There’s times where it’s just not worth it. And times where it’s pointless to argue, but I do it anyway. Kind of depends who it is and what for. Picking your battles is important.

What turns you on the most?
…. *Bright red.*

*Coughs.*

I am aware that I do have a few more risqué songs, but you need to understand, just because someone performs something doesn’t mean they hold those particular views. So I think I will have to decline to answer that question because my particular views is that sort of thing should be a bit more private.

Anything else you'd like to say?
Thank you for all the support, my lovely fans. You all inspire me to keep working my hardest. I certainly can’t go disappointing people with such great taste~.
